Physical Therapy
Strength/endurance - walking on the course, stretching exercises, simply playing the game
Range of motion - beginning with putting and increase golf swing to increase complete range of motion
Standing tolerance - practice putting and increase time standing on course with each session
Balance - putting, bending down to pick up golf ball, advance to pitching--fuller swing
Right/left stroke clients - decrease L/R neglect and increase use of affected side. Following golf shot. Locating hole on putting green, using affected side as much as possible throughout the game
Walking on different surfaces - course is good for participants with decreased balance - walk on gravel, pavement, grass, green, rough etc. Also promotes picking up feet for individuals with foot drag (stroke clients)

Occupational Therapy
Grip Strength - increase strength in fingers to be able to grip club, use FORE HOPE glove to help grip club when grip strength is weak
Daily living skills - the simple exercise needed to complete a few holes of golf can be applied to the strengths needed for daily living skills.


Recreation Therapy
Therapeutic Recreation - above goals, and have an activity to be able to carry out all of the goals through golf. Allowing participants to work on therapy goals through the medium of something they enjoy - GOLF.
Independence - golf promotes being independent
Social Skills - participating in groups, league, etc

Speech Therapy
Processing - being able to locate clubs and name them
Decision making skills - what club to use when on the golf course
Calculating - work with the numbers on the score card
Direction Finding - Where they are on the course and being able to find start/ finish and their way through the course
Short Term Memory (STM) and/or Long Term Memory (LTM) skills - remember their score, which hole they are on, what club they used etc.
Sequence - being able to recognize club order, numbers on the score card, yardage markers on the course
