Guy Derr Memorial Adaptive Tournament

Fore Hope / Guy Derr Memorial Adaptive Tournament

The Fore Hope / Guy Derr Memorial Adaptive Tournament was held September 23rd at Safari Golf Club!

It rained and rained and rained, but spirits and golf prevailed! Our golfers were troopers and withstood the downpours of the day.

Our tournament offers a variety of therapeutic benefits including socialization, participation and competition not only for our golfers with disabilities but for family members and friends as well. This tournament is named after Guy Derr, for he was the reason and catalyst for the Fore Hope organization.

First place team players were Tom Furrey, Dave Kinnard, Andy Tarbox and Chris Wasielewski.

Second place team players were Steve Childress, Cliff Oiler, Sally Oiler and Bernard Valdez.

Our good friend and supporter Bernard Valdez won the Closest to the Pin contest.

There were CHALLENGE SHOTS for able-bodied golfers: one arm swing, teeing off from seated position and teeing off blindfolded.

Sponsors for the 2011 tournament: Presenting Sponsor, The Ohio State University Medical Center and Supporting Sponsor, Richard and Cali Smith. Fore Hope values these partnerships and investments over the years, as their efforts help improve the health and well being of persons with disabilities.
