Youth with Disabilities

Purpose:
Volunteers will help facilitate group and individual program for youth with disabilities. These programs are designed to promote physical, mental, and social stimulation through successful therapeutic golfing program.

Accountability:
Volunteers will be under the direct supervision of Fore Hope staff.

Four Seasons Golf Center (Indoor Dome),

Safari Golf Course at the Columbus Zoo,
4853 Powell Road, Powell, Ohio 43065

Responsibilities:
- Arrive as scheduled, or notify Fore Hope staff when you will be late or unable to work
- Notify Fore Hope staff of any needed items, problems, concerns, or progress you have noted following each group/individual lesson
- Record attendance and participation of group members in attendance log
- Advise youth on golf skills
- Aid program director in group facilitation
- Set up area and equipment needs for each program
- Assist the participant (as needed) in completing each activity with maximum independence in order to encourage him/her to acknowledge their strengths and abilities
- Knowledge of wheelchair mobility (provided by Fore Hope)
- Assist participants to and from area as needed
- Ensure that each session is fun

Qualifications:
- Must be comfortable working with youth disabilities
- Must have the ability to motivate and encourage others
- Must be free of criminal record
- Must have friendly, outgoing personality
- Minimal golf skills is a bonus
